We’re looking for a highly motivated Commercial Manager to become part of the next chapter of their story, supporting the sustainable growth of their high-performing group.
 
About the Role
Reporting into the directors, the Commercial Manager is a pivotal new senior role within Holmes Construction, responsible for overseeing the financial and contractual management of our projects and championing sustainability in all its facets (financial, environmental, social). This role will see you support the Group to recognise and convert business opportunities, maximise profitability, minimise financial and contractual risk, and cultivate and maintain strong industry relationships that support us to achieve our goals. As a senior leader you be responsible for leading your own team of Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers, supporting, and empowering them to consistently deliver high-quality work.


While largely based out of their Petone office, you will also spend time in Holmes Constructions’ Greytown office and overseeing their operations in the Wairarapa.
 
About You
 To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with:
 

  • Experience in a leadership role with excellent knowledge of the construction industry (residential, commercial, and industrial).
  • A qualification in construction management and/or quantity surveying
  • Excellent commercial and financial acumen with proven ability to negotiate profitable contracts.
  • A working knowledge of NZIA and NZS standard conditions of New Zealand Building contracts.
  • Great systems skills, proficient with the Microsoft suite, cost management software and estimating software.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience leading and empowering autonomous teams.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, someone who is great at building and maintaining relationships.
  • The ability to think strategically, communicate and influence, and lead and implement change.
